MUDAYÁN, THE SILENCED STORY
We delve into a little-known era of prosperity, the Golden Age of the Taifa of Zaragoza, an oasis from which our most authentic art, Mudéjar, draws its inspiration. This period of relatively peaceful coexistence saw us as a commercial and cultural powerhouse.
We highlight the splendor of this era of coexistence among multiple cultures in relative harmony, a time when not only architectural heights were reached. Significant progress was also made in areas such as agriculture, which underwent a true green revolution, enriching our gastronomy. In culture, we explore libraries, education, philosophy, literature, poetry, music, and folklore. In science, we delve into astrology, hygiene, and medicine.
We have an outstanding debt to our history if we omit this period in our region's history, a period barely mentioned in educational systems or documentaries. We approach it with a fresh, educational, and artistic vision, with poetry and tenderness, revealing to new generations a culture that forms part of their most ancestral roots. Through interviews with individuals who have made significant contributions to the period from their
respective disciplines, some with digital or print publications, others with lesser-known theses or final projects, we will discover a fascinating history.
All are eager to share their knowledge and have much to contribute, much of it previously unpublished.
Interviews will feature, among others, Jaime Carbonel, José Luis Cortés, Miriam Gracia, Elvira Jiménez, Magdalena Lasala (who will also recite poetry), Fernando Malo and Loli Puértolas, Pilar Marco, Sergio Martínez, Silvia Molina, Francho Nagore, Javier Peña, Victoria Trasobares, Nabyla Maan, and Carmen París, who will also contribute to the soundtrack, along with compositions by Alejandro Monserrat and La Cantante Solitaria.
We include in the narrative outstanding content from individuals whose work has contributed to understanding this period, including narratives, film footage, and animated recreations. This court, far removed from Almoravid influence, was cultivated and tolerant, a patron of the arts and sciences, boasted the finest school of Philosophy of the time, and was a thriving haven for intercultural coexistence—a period of great splendor in our history.
Feature-length documentary.
